first home memento
when we sold our first home, leaving behind friends & a house we put our blood, sweat & tears into, it was to move forward and into new life adventures... to commemorate the little, blue house we loved so much, i made a sweet little reminder of it, to hang in our new abode.
whether for yourself, or to gift, this quick diy is chock full of sentiment!
to collect:
- a picture frame,
- a map of where you lived,
- the key (to that home, or any key will do),
- glue gun & glue sticks,
- spray paint (i chose black) & some newspaper/scrap paper
to do:
- in an outdoor location, lay your key onto some newspaper, and spray paint in your preferred color.
- while your key is drying, decide placement of your map within your picture frame and cut to desired size.
- once the key is dry, hot glue in desired location on your map.
- carefully place map with attached key into your picture frame. when attaching the back to your frame, be careful not to push too hard, as the glass could crack! (you may need to remove some of the additional packaging/cardboard/etc that is sometimes used as a filler in the backing of frames)
- hang & enjoy your personalized, first home memento!
{ i chose a 4x6" threshold frame from target & mapeasy's guide to seattle map }
